There’s a growing demand for skilled, qualified, and work-ready employees in key industries across our region. Healthcare, manufacturing, engineering, transportation — these vital, high-growth industry sectors are facing critical shortages of workers. The LABWN connects job-seekers to the high-demand skills these employers need most.

HEALTHCARE TRAINING

90% of hospitals in the LA Basin say they have a have a hard time filling open positions, particularly for more specialized healthcare roles.2 The LABWN partners with hospitals, healthcare systems, and universities across the region to train urgently needed specialty registered nurses as well as in-demand healthcare coordinators and case managers with an innovative blend of hands-on and online learning.

The aerospace industry is one of the LA Basin’s fastest-growing sectors, with a growing need for trained, qualified, and certified workers. The nation’s first of its kind, the LABWN’s Aero-Flex Pre-Apprenticeships and Apprenticeships prepare job-seekers for high-growth careers with the region’s leading employers, earning great wages with job security and upward mobility.

The LA Basin is hard at work rebuilding its infrastructure, and needs skilled workers to get the job done. With 50% of its workforce readying for retirement by 2024, Metro has a growing demand for labor to support its transportation projects.3 Created in partnership with the LABWN, Metro’s WIN-LA program trains job seekers to enter a range of rewarding career paths with competitive wages.

The LABWN is focused on making it easier for job seekers to access the training they need for the career they want. Our redesigned, user-friendly new I-Train website offers a comprehensive directory of qualified training programs for a variety of industries, offered through approved community college, adult education, and vocational school partners.

The LA Basin is home to more than 10 million residents from all walks of life. At the LABWN, we’re working to make sure every job seeker has equal access to the training, work experience, and support they need to advance their career and secure their future, regardless of barriers. That’s why our programs focus on career preparation for veterans, job seekers with disabilities, those experiencing homelessness, individuals involved with the justice system, and other vulnerable populations.

SECOND CHANCES

Thousands of people in the LA Basin have been involved in the justice system. This experience can often create challenges for job seekers and make it difficult for individuals to enter into good-paying careers. We connect individuals who deserve a second chance to employers eager to hire and train them.
